I was just shopping at Safeway, a large chain and part of the Albertson Corporation retail empire, that is known for keeping prices reasonable. I was going to make a beef stew or beef chili. A choice-grade chuck roast was $9 per pound... on sale. Calculating all the ingredients that would have made my pot of stew or chili close to $100 after all the other ingredients were purchased. That is at least double the cost from before Joe Biden came to power. I ended up with a 10 lb pork but that was on sale for $4 per pound. Froze half of it and am using the other half for Chili Verde.
I can afford the food and energy inflation, but this must be devastating to 70% of the population.
